Its back! With all this wonderful winter sunshine our first Khanacross on the old Rally Sprint course should be a cracker. If you already have an entry in, Congratulations! If not, there’s links on FB, entries are live on the Motorsport Australia Member Portal and of course the events page on our website has all the information you need for a day of fun in the sun!
Don’t get too carried away looking at your name in the results, we have a club to run! 🙂 See you all tomorrow night (Tuesday 16th) at the Coffs Hotel for a 7:30pm start. The big ticket item this month is the Rally!
What could possibly make for a better day than perfect racing conditions and beautiful weather?
How about great people!
With the weather and conditions spot on, it was wonderful to see so many turn out from their warm cozy homes and enjoy a day of racing at Raleigh Motorsport Complex, being Round 3 of the Coffs Coast Khanacross Series.
Kempsey members often support our events. It rarely goes unrewarded and this round was no exception. The top two awards for the day leaving the area with Paul and Damien. Paul performing a clean sweep with quickest time on every course. Some spectacular driving from the locals kept them honest with 3rd and 4th going to Coffs members Gianni and Peter in the highest placed two wheel drives. (though they can’t seem to agree which end of the car drives better) 😛
The juniors competition is heating up with Kai grabbing the top spot in the club car! Liam and Amelia with less than a second between each other close behind. I’m sure they will discuss who’s actually fastest when they get home 🙂 I will take this moment to caution everyone that we still have another Upcroft waiting in the wings. When four people from one family in the winners circle just isn’t enough!
Its great to see the Ladies competition gaining some momentum too, but don’t be fooled by the name, pretty sure Kelly is some sort of Upcroft in disguise. Amelia gets her second mention (refer to juniors) with Tanya finding third place in her first drive in the Alto and only her second event ever! There still seems to be a few ladies hovering around without a steering wheel in their hand too. Maybe we can encourage them to take the next step.
Nothing mechanical lasts forever and it was unfortunate to see a couple of crowd favourites pull out of competition with issues. It is heartening however to see everyone jump in to assist when all doesn’t go to plan. We hope those cars get repaired soon and I don’t think its out of place to say if anyone needs assistance, just ask, I’m sure someone in the club will be right there with whatever’s required.
With such a great day their is always so many people to thank, it seems everyone found a way to help out! From setting up, packing down, timing, marshalling, starting, resetting flags, setting the course, cooking the BBQ, processing entries, sharing driving tips and sharing cars.
Hi everyone, just a quick note to all, the bottom paddock was certified 100% prime by Mick today for the Khanacross tomorrow. Raleigh International Raceway have done a tremendous job of preparing the grass, ground is not too wet and not too dry, should be an event to remember!
The sun is shining and the tyres are chirping. Conditions are looking great for the Khanacross this Sunday, the lower paddock at Raleigh International Raceway. See the events page on the website, previous posts or Facebook event for more information. Please let us know if you are planning on attending by SMS, Messenger, Email, Phone, Comment, Note pinned to a dagger…… whatever! as this assists us in catering and planning.
As this was an earlier event that was postponed, please still advise on your attendance even if you had for the earlier date.
Hello members and enthusiasts. Unfortunately it was necessary to postpone tomorrows Khanacross due to the wet conditions. Don’t despair, we are planning to run next weekend (14th July). Apologies for any inconvenience.
Thanking all the volunteers and organisers who continually work tirelessly to keep these events coming, sometimes against all odds!
