Lap Dash Results

Coffs Harbour & District Sporting Car Club with the support of Coffs Mechanical Repairs ran the Coffs Mechanical Repair Lap Dash on the weekend.
The weather was fantastic, but the timing gear decided to give us some grief almost straight away. Numerous re-runs where had by one car, due to its colour.
The EVO’s of Johnathan Gray and Craig Klingbeil started the battle straight up, both running in the 53’s. Johnathan Gray taking first blood by 0.69 sec. For Run 2 Craig Klingbeil had a big moment that started at exit of turn 1 and continued through turn 2 when he left the track and slide to a stop between turns 3 and 4. That would be his slowest time and therefore not counted. This placed a high pressure on the rest of his next runs if Craig was to beat Johnathan. Besides Run 2 and 4 these guys ran within a second of each other. Johnathan Gray’s Run 4 being the quickest of the day by anyone at 52.26 sec.
Class A was won by Scott Graham in an old Honda Civic on road tyres and having heaps of fun.
Class B was a close contest with Harley Kelly and Tony Fullford running very close times all day to finish only 0.94 sec apart. Harley Kelly coming out on top.
Class C was the most contested with 11 competitors. This was dominated by Scott Harrison in his MX5 beating Mark Farawell in a Mini by 14 secs by end of day. Scott finished 5th over all.
Class D was controlled by 2 cars with V8 swaps. The Mazda RX7 of Jackson Halloran and the rear wheel drive Corolla of Cade Fuller. Both these cars are well sorted and steered very wheel. Jackson taking it to the EVO’s as much as he can. Scott won this class and came 3rd overall.
Class E was the land of the all wheel drives with EVO’s, a WRX and a Forrester. These guys vied for outright position with Johnathan Gray winning over Craig Klingbeil in 2nd. 3rd in class was Antony Patterson in his WRX who also came 4th outright.
Class F was the sole Clubman of Dave Morrow puting in some very respectable times.
The afternoon went more smoothly with the timing gear and a great day was had. Thanks to the Coffs Harbour & District Sporting Club officials, the sponsor, Coffs Mechanical Repairs. Check out Bruce Thomas Photography on Facebook with photos of the day.
