MOTORKHANA RD 1 RESULTS AND REVIEW

On Sunday 23 April crews rocked up to a new paddock at Raleigh Raceway for round 1 of the Coffs Harbour Auto Electrical Motorkhana Series. The paddock has a more horizontally level nature about it. The paddock proved to up to the task having rained during the night before a beautiful sunny day ensued. The club had 10 competitors. Most ran in class D next was C with one sole class C, that was the clubs Suzuki for the juniors.

The juniors, one of which is a Lady, were delivery times that the seniors need to watch out for. These guys ended up beating some of those seniors.

Good runs with no penalties saw Billie Atkinson take out first place for the ladies. Not a scratch or wrong direction was had by Billie. The Clerk of Course will have to make them harder for her next time.

For the juniors 3rd place went to Sam Atkinson with his only penalty, a WD on the last run of the day. 2nd in the juniors was the previously mention Billie Atkinson being clean and consistent. 1st place, in his usual manor, was Sam Rigoni flinging his Excel around. This is the last year for Sam as a junior and ranked 5th outright, so watch out seniors.

In the Seniors and for outright position, Wayne and Josh Sketchley came with a new car and struggled with pace. The BMW 325 requiring a different driving style to their previous Honda Civic. The front wheel drives ruled supreme with 3rd place going to the hard revving Brad Mundowski in his Laser. Brad took 2 Wrong Direction (WD) times on the day. This showed he was trying, but ultimately this hurt his placing. 2nd went to Ian Marriott and the placing basically followed the number of penalties received with Ian going the wrong direction in one of his runs. 1st outright then had a clean run with no penalties and had a good pace all day. Austin Atkinson came 1st outright.

Class honours went to Harvey Summersell in Class B, Austin Atkinson for Class C and Ian Marriott took out Class D.

MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that we have a meeting this Wednesday at 7:30pm, upstairs at The Coast Hotel.

Lots to talk about.

Everyone welcome, members and non-members.

See you there!

Message from the Pres

G’day everyone,

Another great event run by our Club. Very unfortunate about entries but unfortunately this was out of our control. You only have to see the comments and photo’s on facebook to see what people thought of the event.

(Link to facebook: https://www.facebook.com/coffssportingcarclub/ )

These events do not happen without a lot of help and I would like to name everyone who helped but don’t have the space. Though would like to name two in particular, being Scott Beard and Mick Morley, who both had enormous work pressures but still were able to perform their Club duties. [How dare work interrupt a Car Club event] Unfortunately work has to come first.

Thank you to everyone again and am looking forward to seeing you all again!
