Meeting Tomorrow – and a letter to all members

Hi folks – just a reminder that our monthly meeting is on tomorrow, 21st March. Same time & place as usual – The Coffs Hotel at 7:30pm. See you there!

We have also received a letter from club member Bob Carle, who has asked that it be sent to all members. We’ve included this letter below:

Dear Members,

I wrote a letter some time ago and sent it in but somehow got lost “ in the clouds”.

The purpose of the letter was to send some thanks, apologies and congratulations for before and after Christmas happenings, so I have rewritten it.

My Congratulations were to the new Board of the Club. Please support them.

Our Club is not unlike many Clubs, coming out of Covid etc. members are just getting back to their motor sport, please remember the Club doesn’t happen without your contribution. There are so many Coffs Harbour people members of the Grafton and Kempsey Clubs. We have to be more active earlier in the year to try and attract these members back to our Club. It’s a joint effort.

My other congratulations were to the teams who ran in the Coffs Coast Rally, what a great effort. I had a heap of photos and a good script for the paper but getting the photo’s delayed it to the extent it became old news and couldn’t be run.

I would like to apologise for my attempt to give the Club and Ross Duroux some appreciation and mention at his funeral,  I am sorry the words just didn’t come to me.

While speaking of Rosco, I would like to propose he and Dave Arthur be made Life Members, I think we can do that even though they are not with us anymore, or at least a permanent recognition for their work with our Club. In the earlier days of the Club, Ross, Dave, Dave’s brother Geoff [passed] and Rick Abell [who is already a life member] [also passed] spent many hours and time in running Rallies and other events for our Club.

On behalf of my Rotary Club, Coffs City Rotary, I would like to thank all who participated, competed and assisted in the running of the Clubs events during the inaugural Coffs Coast Festival of Motor Sport. Especially Wayne for taking the event on. We are starting to ramp the Festival up again right now trying to finalise Sponsors and Calendar.

After running our first Festival event we can see some ideas/ ways to make it bigger and  better for all, no more mid week events for one. I would like to ask the Club to participate again and have anyone who is interested in getting involved with the running of the Festival to call me. Many hands make light work.

It wouldn’t be a Motor Sport Festival in Coffs Harbour without a Rally. Now that Motorsport Australia have taken the ARC to Canberra, we will make every effort to run our own Rally. Nathan Quinn has a Rally “in his head” but hasn’t the time to run it. My thoughts are to have someone take it on and speak to other surrounding Clubs to help make it happen. The old Group 6 days we had Armidale, Taree, Wauchope/Port Macquarie Kempsey Clubs all helping. There a lot of members who would run and people who will help but we need a leader or a group who will work on making the Event happen. Nathan has most of the hard work done with the roads etc., it is behind the scenes work that needs to be done. Please consider.

For the Hill Climb/ Tarmac people. I have a 1.8km street circuit at Macksville industrial Estate which a lot of work has been done to get up and running as well. Council are happy to talk and are looking for an event to run in their Shire with the Festival. This is a great little Circuit and could be a huge new event for the Coast. We may have someone interested in running this event but if someone local would be interested please get in contact with me.

Sorry for the ramble but I just wanted to get the word to all members, not just those at the meeting. Regards Bob Carle

Meeting next Tuesday!

Hi folks – just a quick reminder that our monthly meeting is next week, on Tuesday 21st March. Usual time & place, Coffs Hotel at 7:30pm.

Also a quick apology about not getting an email out regarding our wet weather cancellation of the khanacross – the website was down for server maintenance all Sunday and we were unable to access our mailing list. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest & fastest updates.

We’re still on for Khanacross Round 1 tomorrow!

There’s been a bit of talk about the weather in the leadup to this weekend – we’re still on for racing in the Coffs Mechanical Repairs Khanacross Round 1 tomorrow! The forecast is saying a chance of a little drizzle of rain in the morning and then it should clear up during the day – which sounds like perfect conditions for keeping the dust down!

See you all out at Raleigh Motorsports Complex tomorrow morning!

Coffs Mechanical Repairs Khanacross this Weekend!

Hi all – just a quick reminder that our Coffs Mechanical Repairs Khanacross at Raleigh Motorsports Complex is coming up this weekend!

While we are accepting entries on the day, we do appreciate if you can send them through early as it helps speed up doco in the morning – often meaning more race time for yourselves through the day! We haven’t had many come through, so if you’re intending on entering, please forward them to the event secretary (Mick). We’ve uploaded an updated entry form that has all the details on it to make things easier for you.

Entry forms can be obtained from our website here: https://www.coffscarclub.com.au/event/coffs-coast-khanacross-series-round-1/

This is shaping up to be a great intro event for the year – we have a few exciting things coming up for future events, so be sure not to miss this one to get the season started!

Coffs Mechanical Repairs Khanacross Round 1

We have some awesome news to announce this week!

Coffs Mechanical Repairs have offered to sponsor our series – this keeps the series sustainable and entry fees low for you, our members and competitors.

This is a massive help to the club – so if you need any mechanical work done, show them your support!

Entries are open and supp regs are available on our website – head on over and send your entries in for our first event of 2023!

Club Meeting Tomorrow @ The Coffs Hotel

One last reminder – our club meeting is on tomorrow night, Tuesday 21st Feb.

We’ve got a few plans for the year to discuss – including some events a bit bigger than our khanacross series (including ones for the tarmac guys).

We’re in the wine bar out the back of the Coffs Hotel, where it’s nice and quiet – if you wish to purchase drinks for food, order them from the front bar or bistro.

Head along – let’s make 2023 our comeback. We can’t do that without your attendance though!

Reminder – Membership Renewals due

Renewing your Motorsport Australia licence and wanting to enter our events this year? Don’t forget your club membership renewal!

We’ve updated our membership form, which can be downloaded from our website here: https://www.coffscarclub.com.au/

All memberships expire on the 31st Dec every year – unless you purchased a multi-year membership. If you’re not sure of your expiry, let us know and we’ll check that for you 🙂
